Harmful “forever chemicals” were recently found in levels above 20 parts per trillion in Wausau’s water supply and the City is now taking steps to temporarily address the issue for residents who may be worried about it.

In a press release sent Friday, the City and Wausau Water Works revealed bottled water is available at the water department’s River Drive facility, the Hmong American Center, Catholic Charities and The Neighbors Place. There is a limit of one case per household and pickups can be made from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

As well, an order of pitchers with built-in filtration systems are anticipated to arrive this coming week. Those wanting one are advised to pre-register at bit.ly/wausau-water-pitcher or by calling 715-261-6804 and leaving personal information. Calls will then be made for pickups it is anticipated they will be offered at City Hall.

If you cannot pick up one there from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. you are advised to let the City know.
