The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department has been informed of a sex offender who will be released into the community of Rib Falls in the western side of the county Monday.

As detailed in a press release earlier today, William H. Craig, 34, has been released from a civil commitment and will reside 133400 State Trunk Highway 29 in the area. Civil commitments are covered in Chapter 980 of the Wisconsin Criminal Code and allow the state to commit someone indefinitely to a civil treatment facility after concluding a criminal sentence. Craig was previously at the Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center in Mauston and will be supervised by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
Craig is a white male. He is 6’1″, 211 pounds and has brown hair, hazel eyes and scars on his right palm and elbow. He is expected to cooperate with the conditions and rules of his release. His victims include minor male and female children and he served time for first degree sexual assault of a child. The sheriff’s department encourages anyone who may see him violate rules to contact their office via the 715-261-1200 regular line.
