The Marathon County Health Department has cancelled a mass testing event for COVID-19.

According to a release from earlier today the program which was set to take place Saturday at the east gate hall in Marathon Park has been cancelled due to inclement weather. Cases of the virus have been on the rise as of late in Central Wisconsin and the state broadly, with Wisconsin Public Radio reporting Tuesday the seven-day average was over 3,500, the highest it has been in a year and more than 1,000 are hospitalized with the virus.

“We are full. Period,” Eric Conley, CEO of Milwaukee’s Froedtert Hospital said in the report from Diane Bezucha.

Additional information on how to get tested or find a vaccine can be found by going to dhs.wisconsin.gov/covid-19. Keeping clean, covering your face when in public and vaccinations remain the best ways to avoid the disease.
